AppleScript Scripts System Setup Use these AppleScript scripts with any version of System 7 (including Power Macintosh), provided that the following software is installed when you start your machine: • AppleScript 1.1 Extension in the Extensions folder in the Macintosh System Folder. • Scripting Additions folder (containing the standard Scripting Additions) in the Extensions folder in the Macintosh System Folder. • A language dialect file in the Scripting Additions folder. Running the Scripts These AppleScript scripts are saved as mini-applications that you launch from the Finder. 1. Launch QuarkXPress 3.3. 2. Drop selected files on a Droplet’s icon to launch it.   Double-click on an Applet’s icon to launch it.   3. If any requirements of the script have not been met — if a document must be open, for example — an alert is displayed. Click OK in the alert dialog box, fulfill the requirements of the script, and launch the script again. 4. If a script prompts interaction — if it asks you to make a choice or enter a value, for example — you have one minute to make that decision. If you do not make a decision within one minute, the AppleScript script will “time out” and you will have to launch the script again. 5. Experiment with the scripts using the “Demo Document” in the Documentation and Demos folder. TIP: Because AppleScript scripts are launched from the Finder, you may want to rearrange windows on your monitor so you can see the QuarkXPress document and the scripts at the same time.
